The Cusco Region is home to many excellent hotels, but the most unique – and adventurous – accommodation option is without doubt the Skylodge Adventure Suites. The luxury Skylodge capsules hang like condor nests from a cliff face in the Sacred Valley, with four transparent pods secured to the mountainside. It was the idea of Ario Ferri, a Peruvian project developer and mountain climber, who wanted people to experience what it was like to spend the night on the side of a mountain, and so he created Skylodge, one of the most amazing hotel experiences in the world.
Our full-day Skylodge experience doesn’t include an overnight stay in one of the suites. Instead, it takes us to the Skylodge for a day of adventure and a delicious lunch in the dining capsule. To get to the dining capsule, you’ll first have to scale the side of a mountain until you reach the Skylodge – at 400 meters above the ground! This is done by the via ferrata (a path used to climb the mountain with a safety system permanently installed), or by a combination of hiking/climbing and zip line!
We’ll pick you up in Cusco and take you to the Skylodge Adventure Suites, located just one hour outside the city. When we arrive, you’ll be given all the necessary safety instructions and equipment for reaching the capsules. Be warned, however, as the ascent is not for the fainthearted.
