Finalmente llegamos a nuestro hotel - Aranwa Valle Sagrado.

Trip Overview

Lake Titicaca is a beautiful freshwater lake that straddles the border between Bolivia and Peru. It’s a mystical place, and according to legend, it was here that the Inca civilization was born, according to mythology. We will explore the small indigenous communities around the lake, to see what life is really like around the high-altitude, windswept, and stunning waters of Lake Titicaca, on the Bolivian side! At the heart of many legends lies Isla del Sol, the “Island of the Sun,” the largest island on Lake Titicaca. We will also visit its counterpart the Island of The Moon and its magnificent temples. These are just some of the impressive destinations on our two-day tour of the communities of Lake Titicaca!

We will visit the Sun Virgins Temple “Iñak Uyu”, an important sacred site on Lake Titicaca where the constant sound of the waves, and whispers of ancient civilizations. For the Inca Civilization, women were a vital part of society producing textiles, agricultural techniques, and cultural and religious development. The temple is characterized by its trapezoidal staircase and other unique architectural features.

We will then continue to the mythical Island of The Sun. On this island, we will visit the “Grand Stairs” and the Sacred Fountain. Next, our private transport (shared service) will drive you to your hotel in La Paz, crossing the Tiquina Strait by Ferry. The road follows the foothills of the surrounding snow-capped mountains of the Andean mountain range.

When the water levels of Titicaca allow, we will visit Urus Iruitos, Quewaya, and Kalauta. Here, we can enjoy Lake Titicaca, sailing through totora-reed canals to reach the Floating Islands & Sustainability Project. This Project came about to preserve the local traditions of a 5000 year old civilization and assure the survival of their traditional way of life.

We will then head to Kalauta Island on the Hydrofoil. Here, we will visit the ruins of an ancient stone village and one of the largest necropolises in the area with its mysterious Chullpas (burial towers).
