Trip Overview

This Bolivia tour will take you from Puno which is the Peruvian side of the enormous Lake Titicaca. We will explore the wonders of Lake Titicaca from a Bolivian perspective, by visiting the traditional communities of the Bolivian side of Titicaca for a taste of true Bolivian life on the shores of this great lake, and then head to the fascinating Bolivian (Not Brazilian!) town of Copacabana to explore its bohemian culture and traditional customs.

Our next stop is the capital of Bolivia, La Paz, which is found at 3,650 m /11,975 ft. making it one of the highest cities on the planet! Its neighboring city of El Alto pips it to the post at a whopping 3869m/12,694 ft. These cities are so close that you can take a cable car ride between the two of them! La Paz is the eclectic balance of the traditional and the modern, where ancient traditions and cobblestone streets go hand in hand with modern restaurants and shopping malls. Wander around fascinating areas such as the Witches' market for potions for every ailment, and visit the Government Palace, La Paz Cathedral,  and the National Congress on The Plaza Murillo, The Plaza San Francisco and the church of the same name are an excellent way to spend an hour or 2! We will also visit the spectacular Moon Valley, which isn’t a valley at all, but a maze of canyons containing strange rock formations and giant peaks, reminiscent of the moon landing!

The final section of our 5 Day adventure is our trip to the salary De Uyuni. Located at 3,656 m /11,995 ft above sea level, Salar de Uyuni is the world’s largest salt flat. Thousands of years ago, the area now occupied by the salt flat was home to a giant prehistoric lake. As it slowly dried up, the lake left behind two smaller lakes and the vast salt flats that we know today.  It’s no exaggeration to say that Salar de Uyuni is one of the most spectacular natural attractions in the world. In the rainy season, the flats are like a giant mirror, covering an expanse of more than 10,000 square km /3,900 sq mi. From a distance, it looks like a vast sheet of ice, but as you reach the flats you’ll see the strange hexagonal formations that cover the surface, formed by salt crystallization from the evaporating water.  After our exploration of the salt flats and its impressive cactus-filled islands, we will continue through fascinating landscapes to the Chilean border, where you can continue to San Pedro de Atacama or to Santiago, depending on your travel plans.

Join us on this 5 Day tour of the highlights of Bolivia- Lake Titicaca and The Sun Island, as well as Salar de Uyuni for an alternative and spectacular way to reach Chile from Peru by passing through the impressive signature sights of Bolivia!

For the Inca Civilization, women were a vital part of society producing textiles, agricultural techniques, and cultural and religious development.
