Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion is located along the Madre de Dios River, near the Tambopata National Reserve in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. This family-friendly lodge property was once a cacao and rubber plantation. The surrounding area is a habitat for macaws, giant river otters, monkeys, and caimans. Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción seeks to cater to nature-loving enthusiasts who come to the region in search of a memorable ‘full-immersion’ experience in the midst of the Amazon rainforest.

Surrounded by lush tropical rainforest and accessed by the Madre de Dios riverboat from Puerto Maldonado port, Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion is located in Puerto Maldonado. The rooms and bungalows provide rustic comfort, with dark wood floors and furniture. Each comes with a private bathroom with free toiletries, and forest or oxbow lake views. There is also a fan. Guests can make the most of the onsite restaurant and bar, using the full board service provided with a minimum stay of 2 nights. Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion can organize excursions like canopy tours, jungle walks, and night sailing on the river. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from Padre Aldamiz International Airport in Puerto Maldonado and a boat transfer to the Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion Lodge.

Activities
Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción offers around 13 excursions distributed in fixed itineraries according to your length of stay at the lodge. The excursions vary in difficulty, duration, and attractions. Excursions are led by an Inkaterra Explorer Guide in Spanish or English, as requested upon reservation; some of these tours are specifically recommended for children.
Embark on a boat ride down the Madre de Dios River for a visit to the famous Cachuela clay lick. Try to spot rare avian species such as yellow and blue macaws while enjoying breakfast on board.

Head out on a night hike through the jungle in search of boa constrictors and jaguars.
Take a stroll through Inkaterra’s “Canopy Walkway” which is a series of seven hanging bridges set 30 meters above the ground.
One of the main highlights of the area is the trek to Lake Sandoval. Hike along the forest edge and spot howler monkeys causing a raucous, a row of bats sleeping under a tree branch, and all sorts of colorful birds and flowers. Paddle across the waters of Lake Sandoval in a dugout canoe as you look for giant river otters, black caiman, and blue and yellow macaws.

The Lodge
Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion is a member of the prestigious National Geographic Unique Lodges of The World collection. The lodge has six standard rooms in the main lodge, all comfortably furnished with a ceiling fan and en suite bathrooms with hot water. The tropical gardens house eighteen individual cabañas which are similar in standard but offer more privacy. The lodge consists of a thatched main building with high ceilings and furniture crafted from locally salvaged wood. The nutritious meals are mainly prepared with organic and local farm products with special regional seasoning. Inkaterra sources most of its ingredients locally and even operates a vegetable farm on the premises.
