When to Book
The Peruvian government has recently informed us that Inca Trail Permits for departures in 2023 will go on sale on October 10th, 2022, for the whole of 2023. Permits for the dates in the high season (April, May, and June) usually sell out within a few hours, so you should book as soon as possible to guarantee your preferred dates. Please try to book before the end of October 2022, if possible, to avoid disappointment.
Starting the Inca Trail
Permits are Limited:
Permits are limited every year to 500, and this includes porters and guides, leaving just 200 permits for hikers to trek the trail. Even if you plan to trek in the low season, we recommend booking 7-9 months in advance to guarantee your space. The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is closed during February each year, as the Ministry of Culture performs necessary maintenance, cleaning, and repairs along the trail. The entrance to the Inca Trail re-opens once more on March 1st.
