Most people visit Peru for between 1 and 2 weeks. One week is a solid time to visit Peru for the main highlights. In 1 week, you can combine a comfortably-paced visit to Machu Picchu with another region, such as the Amazon or Lake Titicaca or take day trips from Cusco throughout the Sacred Valley. If you don't mind skipping Machu Picchu, you can explore several lesser-visited areas like northern Peru, the Ballestas Islands, and the Colca Canyon. Trekkers can easily spend three days hiking—consider Huchuy Qosqo or Lares treks to Machu Picchu, or trek off the beaten path in the Huaraz and Cordillera Huayuash region. If you have a little longer, you can combine the Cusco region with Lake Titicaca and the Amazon or even include the Arequipa and Colca Canyon region, depending on your time scale.

The Amazon pink river dolphin is obviously famous for its pink color. But, many don’t know that it also comes in a variety of other shades. The dolphins actually start off grey when they are young, and slowly turn pink as they get older. Their final color can be influenced by their behavior, diet, capillary placement, and exposure to sunlight. see these amazing creatures on your Iquitos Peru Amazon Tours!

Coporaque is a small village that you will visit on your Arequipa to Colca Canyon tour. While there are only a few streets, there is a small central plaza and a cute church. Coporaque is called the “Land of the Inca’s Wife.” It is believed that the Princess Kollawas Mamallachi married the Inca Mayta Capac in this ancient village in the middle of The Colca Canyon
