Travel in South America is a joy to behold. The rich variety of destinations, experiences, landscapes and geography fascinated me so much, that I chose to relocate here, over 20 years ago! The best thing I ever did! Allow me to share my knowledge and passion for Central and South America with you and help you plan your holiday of a lifetime!

Your Name

 Juan Bautista Hurtado Valencia

Your Position in Valencia Travel

I am the Storeroom Manager for Valencia Travel and I make sure that all of the camping equipment for the treks is in optimum condition for our clients.

The Valencia Travel Team is a group of experts in Peru´s travel industry and their aim is to make sure that your Peru vacation package is an exceptional experience. They go above and beyond to coordinate all the different aspects of your Peru trips so that you don´t have to. They all form part of a Peru travel agency that will take you to all four corners of Peru!

How Long have you worked for Valencia Travel?

I have worked for a year now, in Valencia Travel.

What do you love about working in the Travel industry?

I love the Travel Industry as my daughters have studied tourism and opened up the world of travel to me. It's a wonderful career that allows you to travel to some of the amazing destinations in the country. In the future, I would like to travel and learn more about the travel industry to help my daughters in their careers.

The Valencia Travel office is in Cusco, Peru. Juan is a valued part of our team and he makes sure that all the camping equipment is in an excellent condition, clean, and ready for the next clients on their differing trekking routes. So whether you are hiking the Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu, or the Ausanagate Trek, you can be sure that the equipment is top-notch!

What is your favorite place to visit in Peru?

I am from a village called Quehuayllo, in Chumbivilcas and this is my favorite place to visit when I have the opportunity to go back home. I also love my beautiful city of Cusco.  y tambien me gusta mi hermoso Cusco.

Where would you like to travel given the opportunity?

I would love to visit our neighboring country of Bolivia and cross the city of La Paz on the cable car and learn more about the traditions and customs of Bolivia.  I would also like to visit the USA one day.

What is your favorite Peruvian Dish / Drink?

My favorite Peruvian dish is “Jaucha “ (Estofado de Loro) It takes its name from the bright green color of the vegetable here called “ nabo”, which is a type of turnip. and doesn’t include real parrots! (loros) . My favorite drink is chicha de Jora (Corn beer).

Juan is also responsible for the staff uniforms from those who work in the office, to those who head out on the Salkantay Trek. Juan is someone who works behind the scenes, yet is a vital part of The Valencia Travel team. With people like Juan, you can be sure that your Peru adventure packages include the highest quality equipment!

What is your most memorable moment working for Valencia Travel?

The best moment I have experienced is a visit to the remote Andean communities and sharing their customs, traditions, and way of life. A completely unique experience.

Where do you see yourself in one year’s time?

I am still learning all about the tourism industry and I would like to learn more and more, to keep working in travel. Then I can explore the different options in the travel industry

All of our trekking expeditions in The Andes include equipment such as sleeping mats and tents. It is important that these items are thoroughly cleaned after every trek, whether this is The Choquequirao Trek or The Lares Trek to Machu Picchu. Juan carefully washes these important ítems and stores them away for the next trekking expedition.

What is the best travel tip you can give to visitors to Peru?

I would recommend that everyone come and visit Peru and the wonder of the world, Machu Picchu.  Also, learn about our culture and customs and the different destinations that you can find in this wonderful country. Cusco especially has so many archaeological sites and natural destinations to visit. I would invite you to come to this incredible country and experience adventure to the full.
