Corona Virus Update in Peru - April 1st, 2022

Due to the constantly changing situation with regards to Covid, we would like to keep you up to date as how things stand at the moment for travel in Peru. The have been some changes in the past couple of weeks and they are noted below:
The Peruvian government has published a series of measures and recommendations nationwide to confront the Covid 19 pandemic in Peru. According to the Supreme decree N° 016-2022-PCM, dated the 28th of February to the 1st of April 2022.
General Recommendations
Use a face mask or double face mask, wherever appropriate
Respect physical distancing of 1 metre between people.
Prioritize family activities within the nuclear family
Wash your hands frequently
Use a face mask or double face mask, wherever appropriate
Avoid crowds
Public and private entities:
Ensure the property is well ventilated, with open windows and doors wherever possible
Prioritize working remotely and staggered entrance and exit times of employees.
Entrance into commercial or shopping centres:
If you are 18 years and over and you need to enter a busy commercial centre, shopping malls galleries, supermarkets markets restaurants, enclosed spaces, casinos etc. You should show your vaccination card, either physical or virtual that demonstrates that you have received your complete dose of the covid 19 vaccination, in Peru or abroad, and the booster shot for people over 40 years old.
Work place activities
If you work in an office environment, you should present your full vaccination card with the complete dose against COVID-19, in Peru or abroad.
If you do not have a complete vaccination card, you should work remotely, wherever the nature of your work allows you to do so.
Gatherings and large crowds of people
The following activities remain suspended: parades, festivities or parties, civil activities, all types of meetings, social events, political gatherings or other events that include large crowds of people and putting the public’s health at risk.
Use of beaches, riverbanks, lakes, lagoons and swimming pools
If you are over 12 years old and wish to visit the beach, rivers, lakes, lagoons or swimming pools, you should present your vaccination card (physical copy or virtual copy) showing the complete dose of the covid 19 vaccine in Peru or abroad. People over the age of 40 years old, also need to show proof of the booster shot (3rd dose).
Entrance into sports stadiums and arenas
If you are over 12 years old, and wish to enter sports arenas, stadiums or complexes, you should present your vaccination card (physical copy or virtual copy) showing the complete dose of the covid 19 vaccine in Peru or abroad.
If you are over 18 years old, you also need to show proof of the booster shot (3rd dose)
In all cases, you should permanently use double face masks or one KN95 surgical facemask
Travel to Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is once again operating at 100% capacity.
The current restrictions for traveling to Machu Picchu by train are:
Those over the age of 50 must present either physical or virtual evidence of a vaccine and a booster jab. Failing that they must present evidence of a negative molecular test with results no older than 48 hours.
Anyone over the age of 40 who wishes to enter Inca Rail premises (ticket offices, waiting rooms, etc) must present evidence of a booster vaccination.
Those over the age of 18 must present either physical or virtual evidence of a vaccine. OR evidence of a negative molecular test with results no older than 48 hours.
Anyone over the age of 18 who wishes to enter Inca Rail premises (ticket offices, waiting rooms, etc) must present evidence of vaccination.
Anyone without the above will be denied entry to the service in accordance with current government regulations.
